I would like to introduce the newest addition to our family: baby Aiden Adam!!!! He is so wonderful and we are brimming with love and pride.

new addition to our family

For those of you who follow this blog, I would like to apologize for being absent for quite a while. As you can imagine, the demands of juggling a newborn and our toddler has meant that my blogging time has been a commodity. As much as I’ve wanted to put some time aside to feed my site, my body was not really cooperating. I’ve had so much to do and I’m permanently tired (I’m sure any mother can relate).

Unfortunately for my blog, my last trimester was not really viable time either. I could hardly walk and couldn’t sleep much; despite being super tired. So, in my triage-mode, tragically this baby – my blog – was somewhat neglected. But, fear not, the prodigal mother has returned to nourish this site with some brand new content.

However, before jumping in which another recipe, I did want to share with my followers my first attempt at newborn photography. Needless to say, my model couldn’t complain about the novice on the other side of the camera. As you’re aware, I’ve been photographing food for a couple of years. Therefore, I figured that shooting newborns wouldn’t be drastically different, as they’re not moving – at least they shouldn’t be when they’re asleep – and they too are delicious! I had everything planned out; all the props, backgrounds and time of day with perfect light, etc… But you know what they say about ‘the best laid plans.’  My little bundle of joy did not want to make this easy on me. He decided to be totally alert at this time of day (even though he was fully fed). So, it took couple of hours before I was able to rock him into a deep sleep and take the photos. The light wasn’t ideal at that time but I had to make due. Reason being is that he had started to show signs of baby acne and it was the last day I could actually take these photos. The very next day his face looked like a teenager :). Even though these photos may not be as good as a professional newborn photographer’s I am very proud of them and wanted to share them here with anyone who follows my blog.
