This Classic Croque Monsieur is easy to prepare and is a taste emersion right to the middle of Paris. For this recipe you can use any type of ham.
Rustic Bread | Ham Gruyere Cheese | Dijon BECHAMEL SAUCE Butter | Flour | Milk Salt | Pepper | Nutmeg
MAKE SAUCE Melt the butter and whisk in flour. Then gradually add warm milk until smooth and thick. Season with salt, pepper and nutmeg.
MAKE THE SANDWICH Lightly toast your bread and spread dijon mustard on one slice. Add ham and cheese to the other slice and then put the slices together.
ADD SAUCE Spread béchamel sauce over each sandwich. Add a little extra shredded cheese, and place in the toaster oven until the cheese starts to melt.
Then change the settings to broiler and broil the sandwich until the sauce is bubbly and golden.
